Things to do in

New York City

Start spreadin’ the news! From experimental Off Broadway plays to the megawatt glamour of the Tonys, New York, New York, is America’s theatre central. Our tours include choice seats to several of the season’s hottest shows, plus enough free time for tour-goers to see even more productions on their own.

There’s plenty of time to take in many of the city’s bravura array of attractions as well: art, from SoHo to the Metropolitan, MOMA and the Guggenheim; shopping, from the Garment and Diamond districts to chic Fifth Avenue; dining, from Sardi’s and Joe Allen in the Theatre District to dim sum in Chinatown and pizza in Little Italy. There’s a world of discovery around every corner.

For those of us who don’t get to the Big Apple often enough, just strolling the High Line or ambling through Central Park is a special delight.

Sample New York Itinerary

Your visit to New York will be unique, partly because of the specific productions you’ll see, partly because of the individuals who will accompany you on your various excursions, partly by the weather and the fact that the city is constantly changing.

You may customize your trip however you like, but we can offer this sample itinerary.

DAY 1

Depart from your home city in the morning on a flight to New York, arriving in the late afternoon. We will travel by private coach to the first-class Westin Times Square Hotel, directly in the heart of Broadway’s Theatre District. After check-in, join your fellow tour goers for a welcome reception at Tony’s di Napoli.

DAY 2

Start the day with a private sightseeing coach tour of Lower Manhattan. We’ll learn about the city’s history, observing colonial-era churches and monuments in the shadow of the Federal Reserve Bank, the New York Stock Exchange and towering office buildings. We’ll stop to explore the 9/11 Memorial Museum, then walk to the World Trade Center for “An Experience Above” at One World Observatory on floors 100-102. This evening will be your first Broadway production.

DAY 3

In the morning, we will attend a brunch, theatre forum and tour of The Players. This historic private club caters to members connected to theatre and entertainment. Its library is considered the finest repository of theatre art and memorabilia of its kind. This afternoon, guides will lead personalized walking tours throughout the city. Join a group to SoHo, Chinatown, Little Italy, Hudson Yards & The Highline – or maybe bustling Midtown and Grand Central Terminal. Tonight, your second Broadway show.

DAY 4

After breakfast, guides will accompany you to the foot of Manhattan for the ferry to the Ellis Island Museum. A testament to the spirit and courage of those who found their way here from foreign lands, the museum examines the “melting pot” that formed the character of New York and the nation. This afternoon we attend a matinee performance of Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular. Tonight, a fabulous dinner and show at the Iguana Club & Cabaret with celebrated orchestra Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks.

DAY 5

Today is free to explore this magical city on your own. Stroll along 5th Avenue with all its magical Christmas decorations and stop at Rockefeller Center for a fun-filled ice-skating romp. Take a carriage ride through Central Park and then savor an afternoon tea at the luxurious Hotel Pierre. Wander through Greenwich Village and enjoy a cappuccino at Caffè Reggio with the oldest expresso machine in the city. Tonight is your fourth Broadway production.

DAY 6

This morning we head north to The Cloisters. Overlooking the Hudson River in Fort Tryon Park, this complex of splendid chapels and halls is a branch of the Metropolitan Museum devoted entirely to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. In the afternoon, we visit the Met’s iconic main building, the largest art museum in the United States. Wander at your leisure through the collections of your choice. Tonight, your fourth Broadway show.

DAY 7

On this, your last morning, you’ll enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at theatre with “Broadway Up Close.” Led by professional working actors and stage managers, this two-hour walking tour offers insider info and stories from current and past shows in the Broadway and Times Square district. Plenty of time to pack and relax before we depart for the airport in the late afternoon. Your flight arrives back in your home city this evening.
